Chris fell getting out of bed this morning. His socks slipped on the floor and he landed
on his bottom with a shock. It made his
heart race, his face was pale and he was trying to vomit. God bless him, it was pretty awful for a
while. We began praying over him
immediately and Praise God within a few minutes he was comfortable and back to
sleep. I have been deeply thinking about fear lately. In fact, I’ve been drenched in it at times,
considering my growing age and all the situations around me. None of it really harms me, but constantly
presented me with a dilemma. Although I
believe every word God spoke and every promise of our Lord, there was this huge
gap between the Spirit knowledge in me and the natural man reaction to the
world around me. Part of this is due to the fact that I’ve always been a
drama queen, one of the greatest! I have
managed to appear calm and sweet while calling everyone up and telling them how
HUGE an impact this and that had on me.
No, let me rephrase that. Being a
writer, I knew how to get shock value out of everything that happened. I milked it for all the sympathy I could get
from my friends and family. I longed for
everyone to put an arm around me and say they were sure sorry and what could
they do to make it better. Somehow that
seemed like it would help. How wrong can one person be?
A lot! But how GREAT can God be
that although I was doing that constantly, He built my faith and allowed me to
see miracle after miracle and proof of His presence until I could deal with
this fear situation. The problem is we are straddling a high picket fence,
walking in both the spiritual and natural worlds. We have a spirit, (that is connected to God),
a soul (that is our mind, will and emotions) and a body, that certainly doesn’t
leave the earth when I have flights of fancy.
The body has to endure the cold and the heat, and knows all too well
what sickness feels like. It has a memory
of its own! So we are fighting all of this earth reality when we embrace
the kingdom principles of God. It’s a
leap of faith and that canyon we’re leaping over looks mighty deep. Naturally we hold onto the things we’ve heard
our parents say, and traditions of ancestors passed down through the ages. Basically, that when you fall on your bum you
get hurt. We all know what is right for us, deep inside, but if we’ve
been denying what we know long enough, we throw a “veil” over it, and things
seem clouded, we can’t make a good decision, and get farther away from the
ability to live in God’s kingdom. We
lose our personal power and effectiveness and eventually stop dead in our
tracks. God forbid! I know the Bible says we overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and
the Word of our Testimony. I used to
think it meant the testimony of what miracles God had done for us
personally. Now I know better. It means the Testimony of what Jesus did for
us on the cross – that we acknowledge that it was done for US personally. There are actually three elements of that
sentence we need to understand. The Blood, the Word and the Testimony. The blood that was shed for us was no
ordinary blood and it covered EVERY possible sin and fault and need that every
person on earth did or would ever have.
Nothing anywhere escapes the blood IF we apply it to ourselves. That’s the testimony we have to have. That God applied that precious, priceless,
innocent and miracle working blood to our own heads, hearts and entire beings. The Word that God spoke has power. (The Bible says that Jesus IS that Word
turned into flesh.) He spoke and wrote
it all out by the Holy Spirit in men, throughout all the generations of God and
man on earth, so that not one thing would be overlooked or one person could be
deceived and without hope. How we speak about our situations determines the
outcome. Jesus said, “Out of the
abundance of the heart, a man speaks”. We are commanded in the Bible to speak back to God the words
He’s already spoken about our situations, not our own spin on it, or our
predictions of doom, or what in our frail human knowledge we believe the
outcome will be. My fear was from looking at every new event that showed up
in my day as a new crisis. Something to
call up my family about and shock them with.
And then that statement, however I would spin it, became my internal
operating system (my belief) when combined with what our parents and ancestors
had to say was the outcome of such a situation.
Or what the TV commercials tell us.
You know the ones that say we might have P.A.D. or some life threatening
condition and we must have their medicine to survive, (although the medicine
has been known to kill people, but go buy it anyway!) Today I realized that every single situation I will ever
face, has already gone through a committee in Heaven made up of God my Father,
Jesus my Savior and best friend, and the Holy Spirit, the One who is committed
to my success for eternity! Nothing can
come to me except it be passed and approved by this committee and to be FOR MY
GOOD. (God said He knows every thought
He has towards us is for good.) Every one of these “allowed experiences” is for my training,
for my strengthening, for my good, and is an opportunity to have a miracle
testimony. It’s also a test, so that I
can move forward out of these situations and grow into peace and power. There is NOTHING bad in them, because God’s
word has already said I will have victory.
Yes, I know, you’re saying “well it sure was bad for so and
so. Those folks over in that other state
got shot, and my uncle died, and I have gout etc. and etc.“. Jesus said over and over, be it unto you
according to your faith! Faith applied
and Word spoken. If people don’t know
that they have a right to peace and protection, and if they aren’t applying
that daily to their lives, then I can’t say what will happen to others. We can’t even know if our friends or neighbors truly
believe. Do THEY even know if they
really believe? Do they follow
Jesus? Really FOLLOW Jesus, put God
first, and live for Him? Is He on the
throne of their hearts or is something else, like their job, or the pursuit of
money and titles and vacations etc.
Maybe it’s themselves that they idolize.
Jesus said we should not love our own lives so much that we choose death
over life. Well, that’s too deep for this message. I can just tell you that I have never been
harmed, even when people around me died or had tragedy happen. God has always preserved me and I look to Him
constantly for the help I need. I talk
to Him and about Him constantly. I am
not taking credit or glorifying myself, but I encourage you all to make
yourself known to Him! Be in His
presence so He doesn’t forget you! (No,
darling, He CAN’T and won’t forget you.) We overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our
Testimony. The only part of that
statement that we can affect or have any part in is how we speak about it. God did all the rest. It’s not OUR Testimony of anything we’ve done or
experienced, but what Jesus did, and our testimony that we are in agreement
with that and under the blood. That must
become (and will become) our belief. The devil knows it, but until we acknowledge it and speak
it, he will tear us apart and play havoc in our lives. We’ll look just like everyone else out
there. We’ll suffer and die like
everyone else out there. Instead, I choose life.
God said He sets before us life and blessing and death and cursing. He said to choose life. On purpose you have to take it up, speak
about it, and determine inside to the very core of your being that you believe
what God said and that it was about YOU He was speaking. Let’s pray together: Lord Father, boldly and with joy and thanksgiving we come to
your throne, to lay our hearts at your feet, because the blood of Jesus was
shed for us to allow us into your presence.
We desire your presence Lord, as you desire ours. We bless you and praise you and give you the
honor and glory due to you, and acknowledge that you are our One and ONLY God,
the creator of the universe and we are glad! We are glad and thankful for our lives, for your constant
watch over us, for the abundant promises you’ve made for our provision, safety
and long life, for your genuine love that is never ending, for your Son who
died for us to make it possible to know you and be in right standing with you,
and also for the righteousness and healing and wholeness that your Son’s work
on the cross brought to us. Lord we thank you for our testimony, which is that Jesus
Christ, the Son of the most High God, died for me personally, for each of us,
and that by accepting that sacrifice as including us, and calling upon His
name, we have been washed clean, and given the righteousness that was His, the
riches and family position that was His in your eyes, and have the right to be
in your presence for any and every need. Lord I thank you that you already have every one of my
situations mapped out and provided for, angels dispatched to help with, the
Holy Spirit inside me poised and ready for any battle and every word of power
that was needed to be spoken, was already spoken in ancient days and available
now for me to speak back to you in agreement.
And as soon as I get in agreement with what you’ve said, and know that
you have it all under control, then the resolution of every problem comes
quickly and with absolute certainty. There are no half healings, no half provision, but in
everything that I need and ask, it is according to my faith in your ability to
bring it forth. Lord I acknowledge that right now, I am no longer a coward,
but in your presence and with this knowledge, I am a victor and an
overcomer! I will not fail, and I will
not die. I will live forever in your
presence and I will forever sing of your mercies and tell the world of your
wonderful works! I praise you great and
wonderful God and I praise Jesus, our King and Lord above all, and Holy Spirit,
our comforter, guide and teacher. I am
empowered by your blood Jesus, I am empowered by your Word, Father, and I am
empowered by your blessings through the constant help of the Holy Spirit. I will no longer fail. Ever!
I am rejoicing forevermore in your Holy blessings and Great position as
my Lord and Savior and Rescuer. Thank you Jesus, Thank you Father, Thank you Holy
Spirit! Amen. From this moment on, I give up my drama queen status and
choose life! I determine to only speak
the words of life, the words of promise and what I KNOW in my spirit to be what
God has determined for me. It is His gift
to give me, and the reward of the progress I will be making, to give up the
physical, natural desire for sympathy and glory, and take on His thoughts
towards me and His ways of living, thinking and believing. He doesn’t need to believe because He KNOWS. I choose to believe and I KNOW God will
always honor His word and care for His people who seek Him and love Him. We serve a MIGHTY and WONDERFUL God, dear friends! Nothing is outside of His hands, no good
thing outside of His ability and will to bless us with. Accept it now with me, and rejoice all the
day long because He is good and we are His!
