When I put
Chris to bed, I try to give him good thoughts to think about as he goes to
sleep. I told him this morning to think about being on Nanny and Papa's front
porch in heaven, with Jesus there too, and sharing a glass of tea. I told him
to remember his body will be perfect there in heaven, he'll be able to walk and
run and play, do anything he'd like. He'll be able to help them decorate their Christmas tree and prepare for Thanksgiving dinner. He could even sit at the head of the table and pass around the plates of "roast beast" (from Dr. Seuss' Grinch). You may say "well we won't have Christmas trees in heaven, they're a heathen thing..." but I think there are lots of possibilities. God's heart is for us to be happy, for us to be satisfied. And any offering we make to Him, any gesture of love or acknowledgement of His Lordship, I'm sure He would honor. When you do something, even if it's not absolutely correct, God sees the intention and the love in your heart and He shares it with you. God is of peace, and love towards small children, and we're so blessed to be able to live as those small children forever, doing things to please our Father. Bringing our little "mud pies" and clay creations to Him to see His pleasure in what we've created. This morning I received an email from a pastor in Kenya who is burying a child this weekend, and I realized how different our worlds are, and yet we are brother and sister in Christ, sharing the same God, the same love, the same hope. Jesus! He worships under a lean-to shack in a wild, green landscape of tropical plants. (I've seen their photos.) They may attend barefoot, carrying their own chair from home to sit on. We walk into our stained glass churches, up staircases and over lavishly tiled floors. Yet there are some who are homebound, alone and "unchurched" and beside their chair or bed, sits the KING OF KINGS, humbling Himself to hear the prayers of the least of men. He walks the halls of the insane assylums and the drug rehab centers. He hangs in the alleys where the homeless lay. God is ready to bring His light into every heart, as soon as it opens to Him. Let's not judge each other or criticize how poor or how ugly the physical reality is, but look inside and see the wonder of a heart budding with the love of Jesus Christ! God bless you today! To God be the praise and glory! In Jesus’ name I send out this teaching and ask that the Word bless and heal all who read or hear it. God bless you all. God bless you!
