Whenever I go to town to pay a bill, or make a phone call where I have to deal with others, I do all I can to ensure the success of the effort. I pray first, I claim my victory, I thank Jesus for it, and then I try to make the other person I'm dealing with have the very best experience from dealing with me as possible! For my creditors, I smile as I talk and keep in mind that it's not them I have a problem with. They're only the messengers or representatives of whomever I made a deal with. They're doing their job and they get a lot of hassle from other customers, so they begin to expect a bad time when they get on the phone. If you give them respect and thank them for helping you (even if it's only what you owe them being paid and nothing gained), they'll be relieved and glad to have spoken with you. Maybe you'll even get a little extra help or discount. Sometimes that happens. For the rest of the people in our lives, we could use some lubrication to make all of our interactions more pleasant, whether it's with our mate or kids, or mother in law! (Don't forget the boss!) The secret to motivating people is to allow them a chance to make an achievement, and then recognize that achievement. Everyone wants to do a good job and be noticed! Everyone wants to feel special, and they ARE! You may not know it, but the richest people in the world are not the ones who can give out scads of cash, but the ones who have enough love inside themselves to give some of that to everyone they meet! A kind word, a thank you, even a smile. If you have something more to give that's great, but you always have your smile with you. I like to
write notes to police departments and letters to the editor to thank our public
servants for what they go through for us. Include the electric company and
other utilities, because they go out in the storms and cold to keep us plugged
in and functioning. Sure they get paid for it, but thankless jobs become jobs sloppily done, depression can set in and who knows what happens next. Disgruntled postal shooters? A friend of mine suggested that a box of cookies or some home made treat might be nice for our firemen and EMTs etc., and a bottle of cold water for the mailman. (Hey, I'll bet those garbage men might like a bottle of water too.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ God bless you all. God bless you! Keep looking back here for more updates and more
